About the Craftsman
Jack Lasinski
Fascinated by the design process and precious metals, I began goldsmithing as a hobby. While making rings for friends and family my excitement for the trade continued to grow into the passion project that is Deco Jewelry. My mission is to make hand-crafted, solid gold, heirloom quality jewelry, that has a meaningful backstory. Every ring I design, carve and cast is made with the sole purpose of providing you a piece you can connect with for a lifetime.

About the Inspiration
Grandfathers Ring
If my apartment were on fire and I could only grab one thing, it would be my grandfathers signet ring. Given to me after my college graduation, it has become the single most valuable family heirloom I own. That ring and a lifetime of interest in jewelry has led me to specialize in hand crafted signet rings, with the hope that one day I can provide an equally valuable family heirloom to others.

About the name
Deco Jewelry
"Art Deco" a time period of incredible decorative arts and architecture around the early 1900s, left us with some of the coolest buildings and designs. Think of the Eiffel Tower, the Carbide building in Chicago or The Great Gatsby. Each of these respective creations emulate art deco style and have beautiful rings hidden in their small details. Beyond heirloom quality signet rings, my other creations are deeply inspired by art deco style.
About the Process - Lost Wax Casting
-
Wax Rings
Every ring starts as a wax model and every heirloom signet ring starts as a hand carved wax model. The wax models are perfect replicas of the ring and are used to create a plaster mold in which the gold will be cast.
-
Casting
The plaster mold is placed in a kiln that heats to over 1,300 degrees in order to burn the wax out, leaving a negative space. Molten gold over 1,800 degrees is then poured into the mold, a process that takes less than five seconds.
-
Finishing
Cast in small batches of 10 or less rings at a time, the mold is quenched after casting in a process that dissolves the plaster away and leaves a beautiful "ring tree". Rings are removed from this tree before undergoing the hours-long process of finishing and polishing.
